2008 Episcopal Summer Camps Staff

Amie Vallette

Amie Vallette -- Program Director

Amie currently lives in Pittsburgh, PA, but is relocating to Denver following this camp season to begin classes at Denver Seminary. She is part of the Hot Metal Bridge Faith community in the Southside of Pittsburgh, and supports various church-planting endeavors throughout the city of Pittsburgh, including an Episcopal church plant called Three Nails. Her participation in the church in Pittsburgh has included homeless outreach, weekly community meals, art events, theatre, creative worship planning, theological study with Hot Metal’s Apprenticeship program, Three Nails vestry, and outreach to the Gulf Coast and to Pune, India.

Amie is a 2002 graduate of Rock the World’s Josiah Project program where she received training in youth ministry, urban ministry, and cross cultural missions. She also has her Bachelors in Nursing from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO, and has worked mainly in pediatrics and community maternal/child health over the past 5 years. In Pittsburgh, she visited young first time mothers in their homes, in some of the most economically impoverished areas of the city.

Amie loves the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, softball, tennis, and skiing. She also loves art, reading, writing, and board games. She had the great joy of volunteering at Trinity Ranch in 2004 for the middle school camp, and the fond memories of that week make her overjoyed at the opportunity to spend the entire summer at camp. She is excited to share in the life of the TR community this summer, and to share her life and hope in Jesus with campers and staff.

Activities Coordinator – Erica Hein

Erica Hein has been a youth director for 9 years in the Diocese of Colorado, both working within individual churches in volunteer and paid positions, and assisting with Diocesan youth events.  She loves the church, the outdoors and working with youth.  She most recently worked for Mickey Mouse (no, really, she did!!) at Walt Disney World while finishing her Bachelor of Science in Recreation and minor in Theatre Arts at University of Northern Colorado. Erica is looking forward to working at Trinity Ranch for the Episcopal Summer Camps of Colorado.  She is very excited about using sacred art within craft projects, and using her new found archery skills at camp!!

Tony Jones

Tony Jones – Senior Counselor

Hello.  My name is Tony and I am going to be the senior camp counselor at this year’s camp.  I am very excited to meet each and every one of you coming to camp this year.  I was asked to do this because I am pursuing youth ministry as my career.  I highly enjoy working with youth and enjoy spreading the Word that much more.

A little about me:  I’m 21 years old and I’m not afraid to have fun.  I enjoy the outdoors and I get along with everyone.  I’m also told that I’m fairly easy to talk to.  I am a member at St. James Episcopal Church, Wheatridge.  I’ve been going to church my whole life, but a believer for only about nine years.  At Quest this year, if any of you were there, you may remember me as the donkey in one of the skits.  Quest is where I had a complete turn around in my faith and I truly found God.  I’m excited for this summer to see how God works through each of us. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll be there all summer.

Megan EdwardsMegan Edwards – Senior Counselor

Megan is a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in biochemistry, cellular and molecular Biology, and Tennessee native. She is an active member and peer minister in her campus ministry, Tyson House, helping to lead worship, organize outreach and fund-raising projects, and serving as the “welcome wagon” for new students to the community. She also participates in the school marching band, Pride of the Southland, playing the mellophone (a marching French horn) and also shares her musical talent by teaching French horn and piano to others. She is experienced in kayacking and paddling, hiking, plant and bird identification, and rock climbing, and she loves singing, animals (she once had a flying squirrel as a pet!), and kids.

Megan will be starting medical school this fall and is looking forward to this summer spent with children and teens exploring and learning about God and Christianity in the beautiful Colorado outdoors.

Junior Counselors

Junior Counselor – Andrew Theobold

Andrew Theobald, is a member of Grace and St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs. He is looking forward to being on Episcopal Summer Camps staff for the 2nd year. He is entering his sophomore year and hopes to get his Eagle Scout rank this summer. He’s going to Florida next Christmas to go on a sailing trip. He loves chilling outdoors, and hopes to make a lot of friends with campers. One thing he can promise: the food is pretty good! He has been the Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 2 for the past 6 months, leading middle and high school aged boys. Now he’s excited to also hang out with Elementary school kids again!

Junior Counselor – Maura King

Maura King is a member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is excited to be a summer long camp counselor for the first time after assisting at Angel Tree Camp last year. When she was a young camper, she always looked up to the camp staff. This summer, she will work hard to set a good example and be someone that a camper can look up to for support, guidance, or just as a friend. She is motivated to be a camp counselor so she may learn more about myself, her strengths and weaknesses, and other qualities. She is a great people person and likes getting to know new people. She strives to make everyone feel equal and valued and thinks that this is one of the best things about camp.

Junior Counselor – Tristan Riley

Tristan is a member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Cherry Hills. A large part of his life is playing Lacrosse. The team skills he has learned there have helped him gain skills that will come in use for this summer. He hopes the experience of being a Junior Counselor at camp helps him grow in his ability to work with youth. He has been a participant in summer camp for multiple years as well as last year having the opportunity to be a Junior Counselor last year for a week. He is much looking forward to having the whole summer to be a counselor. He is excited to help the youth grow in their faith in Christ. He will work hard to make the youth feel conferrable and ready to learn about God. He hopes to also help the campers have a very enjoyable time during their stay.

Junior Counselor – Ryan Stewart

Ryan Austin Stewart is a junior at Chatfield Senior High School class of 2010.  He has been active in Episcopal Summer Camps and church activities since he was in fifth grade.  He has always enjoyed camping up at Trinity Ranch and being a Jr. Counselor for a week in the 2007 summer camp.  He has scouting experience and he plays trumpet in his school band.  He has two younger brothers that he constantly watches over. "So," he says, "camping and watching over children are endemic to me."
