The Church takes with utmost joy and seriousness its responsibility to help brothers and sisters discern God’s call on their lives. The Commission on Ministry (COM) has canonical responsibility to consult with the Bishop and “establish procedures to identify and select persons with evident gifts and fitness for ordination to the Vocational Dioconate” (Canon III.6) and “… to the Priesthood.” (Canon III.8)
The Commission on Ministry is seeking information about clergy's experience with sabbaticals and continuing education. Please click here to take the survey.
Ordained ministry is complex, challenging, exciting and fulfilling for those called to it by God. Deacons and priests are often invited into the lives of those they serve in ways that are deeply touching, enriching and humbling. It is one of God’s greatest gifts to be called to such service. The Holy Orders process in the Diocese of Colorado has been carefully designed to examine one’s sense of call to ministry, to provide prayerful support and input throughout a candidate or postulant’s course of study and discernment and to ensure that discernment is guided significantly by the specific mission needs of the Diocese.

The Commission is charged with developing support and accountability for all ministries. To that end, the COM has published norms for the licensing of ministries under Canon III.4. The COM welcomes feedback from congregations engaged in developing these ministries. Questons about implementing these guidelines and feedback should be directed to Sarah McAfee.
